Places to Have Fun in Sydney, Australia

Sydney, Australia is a vibrant city with plenty of things to do for people of all ages. With its sunny climate and magnificent beaches, it is a favorite destination for families.
Amusements
Luna Park is an amusement park where families can have a lot of fun. There are 17 rides that include roller coasters, bumper cars, and a carousel. There is a Coney Island fun house and rides for the little ones.
The Entrance is located between Newcastle and Sydney and it has beaches, a lake, parks, and pelican feeding in the afternoon. The children will enjoy Vera’s Water Garden with a wading pool, water sprays, and fountains.
Animals
The Sydney Aquarium houses over 650 species of aquatic life that includes sharks, sea turtles, platypus, and dugongs. The kids will love to see the sea life swimming overhead in 1.5 million litres of water.
The Taronga Zoo has a wonderful assortment of Australian animals. It also has exhibits of African and Asian animals and you should not miss the Gorilla Forest and Chimpanzee Exhibit.
Sydney Wildlife World is located next to the Sydney Aquarium and is made up of 10 zones. These include a rainforest, grasslands, and a koala sanctuary. It is home to over 6000 creatures and has some of the rarest species on earth.
Museums
The Australian Museum has a dinosaur exhibit, a mummy, and many others so you can discover natural history. Search and Discover is an interactive exhibit where you can touch specimens, look through a microscope, or examine artifacts.
At the National Maritime Museum you can explore a real lighthouse. The kids will find plenty to do at all the hands-on exhibits and activities.
The Powerhouse Museum is a technology museum where the techno savvy individual will have a blast. In the Experimentations area you can discover the properties of chocolate and work with magnetism, light, chemistry, and more.
Outdoors
There are two great parks to visit. Buddy National Park is a lovely park with beaches, hills, and forests where you can walk through the bush and is suitable for all ages. At the Bicentennial Park, you can view the wetlands, walk on a boardwalk, and have a picnic.
For something out of the ordinary, you might want to visit the Fairfield City Farm, which is a real cattle and sheep farm. Activities include sheep shearing, cow milking, and watching the dogs working with the livestock.
No visit to Sydney would be complete without a trip to the beach. Some of the best beaches for families are Shelley, Bronte, Balmoral, and Nelson Park. You might also want to take the ferry to Manly Beach so you can view all the sites of the harbor on the way.
