If you’re looking to find the best deals and bargains on travel, we’ve got five tips that’ll help you save! Check out our guide to find out how!

Everybody loves finding a good deal on travel. There’s something about smugly revealing the low cost of your hotel room or the special deal you got on flights that make the trip so much more worthwhile! Whether you’re looking for Fiji holidays, New Zealand adventure holidays or European experiences, we’ve got five of the best tips for finding great travel deals and saving money.

  1. Subscribe to Travel Sites While the constant flux of emails might seem a little annoying, you’ll be the first to know when great deals come in, the time it takes to wade through the emails will be more than worth it when you find half-price flights to Japan in the time frame you were hoping for! Also, a lot of travel sites offer exclusive deals to members, so if you’re on the mailing list you’ll get first pick, before the rest of the country figures it out and the deal sells out!
  2. Group Buying The rise of group-buying sites has been meteoric, and while you might not be serendipitous enough to receive a deal offer for the exact holiday you were hoping for, you can save a lot if your requirements are a bit more vague. Perhaps you’re hoping for a trip away but you’re not quite sure where yet? If so, being open to the group deals that come your way could yield amazing results.
  3. Be Flexible Being flexible with your dates is one way to snag great travel deals. A lot of the time when deals are offered they’re on during low season, or for mid-week travel. If you can be flexible with when you travel, you’re bound to find some of the best deals on offer, because airlines and resorts want to fill spaces throughout the year, not just during peak tourist seasons. On this note, try to avoid school holidays for travel—prices everywhere become inflated and you end up paying through the nose for a deal you could have found for half-price a week beforehand.
  4. Package Deals Buying a hotel and flight package together can save you a lot of cash. Whether you’re searching for Vietnam hotels and resorts or an all-inclusive package to Fiji, make sure you check with major airlines and travel sites to see if they have any combination packages or specials. Booking it all together almost always means a saving, but make sure you double-check the individual prices of things to make sure you are in fact getting the best deal.
  5. Group Travel If you want to travel with friends, you’re bound to make savings all along the way. Enquire about group-booking deals at hotels and resorts, or if you’re planning on self-catering accommodation, look into renting a holiday home in the area. A house that you can all share (and share the cost of) is not only a lot of fun, but almost always works out cheaper.

If you’re hoping to find the best travel deals, it really comes down to being alert, flexible and able to shuffle plans around to find the best bargain. Travel always feels more fun if you know you got a great deal (much like food tastes better when it’s free), so it’s worth putting in the extra work and nabbing yourself a bargain!
